Sap
A downloadable game
What is Sap?
A game about experimenting with and attempting to sustain a bizarre expanding-and-collapsing ecology. Sap is not designed to be purposefully obtuse, but instead layered and intended to foster exploration. Late in a playthrough, you might uncover new challenges and require more strategic thinking to carry on. It is, however, intended to be a meditative single-player experience, so there won't be any specific pressures.
Move tiles containing biomes, mechanical elements, and especially organisms on to a board and watch how they interact. Once you place a few tiles and end your turn you'll lose control of those tiles, so you should think about what they might do before you place them!
When does Sap release?
The plan is for it to be available in early access in Q1 2025. It will be available on PC and Mac, though the hope is that it might eventually be available on some or all consoles. The plan is to release on Steam and possibly here on Itch, depending on demand.
Will there be post-launch content?
Sap will be written from the ground up to support more content, and any new content will be added for those that own the game free of charge - I stake my reputation on that.
