What's this? Progress?
The good stuff:
Firstly - wow did I butcher time management this week, though perhaps in a less than standard sense. There were two nights when I worked through the night, I completely misread a deadline, and took off a whole day to hang with a friend. As bonkers as the week was - I don't regret it haha.
Now, on to the actual content:
- Card combination works! As a proof of concept two regular stumps will combine to form a log.
- Living cards move around. The flies will wand around and hunt for moss as it grows.
- There's a bit of a UI, including tooltips
Honesty, It's starting to feel like a game, albeit not yet a particularly intuitive one. As I go the ideas keep getting more exciting, but I know enough than to let the scope creep creep into my mind.
Problems this week?
So that... that time management problem? It became tightly coupled with last weeks problem, and the input system reared its ugly head once again last minute. Less of a mouse issue this time and more of a failure on my part to properly inspect the Unity documentation. I desperately wanted to be able to shut off the hardware mouse at the software level. It didn't seem possible at the time, and it caused me to spiral out into a myriad of possible solutions. This generally compounded with a misfire on reading and comprehending a timeframe for a due out.
Oh yeah? But what was the fix?
The good news is I managed to pull through and actually accomplished more than I thought I would. Really, the fix was to tear into the documentation and hybridize my solution. The real fix action was my absolutely insane devotion to micromanaging my source control. I had some stashed changes, rolled back and managed to smash the two version together to make fairly dramatic forward progress. No big lesson learned, other than I need to slow down and read things more. Charging forward has its place, but it's rarely the best solution. A lesson I imagine I'll keep having to learn.
As always, feedback, thoughts, questions or even just notes -> hit me up! I'll be checking throughout the week. Where time allows I'll try and offer some quick mid-week updates as well.

It looks good. I adore the simple art style and tooltips!
Thanks! I'm really pretty happy with the art. I think as I refine it a little it's the sort of thing I can really lean into.
